Civil Society Human and Institutional Development Programme (CHIP) is a leading not-for-profit organization that improves and strengthens functional capacities of individual, organizations and institutions

CHIP was established in 1993 as the Swiss NGO Programme Office (SNPO) for the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). It has undergone a carefully planned transition from an SDC programme to a national organization. Today, CHIP is an independent, not-for-profit national support organization registered under Section 42 of the Companies ordinance 1984 ( more info... )

CHIP has a history of supporting the development of grass root organization.

It has a methodology for engaging local-level social entrepreneurs and training them in human and institutional development. It’s scope of work places emphasis on Human and Institutional Development (HID) as the foundation of any development strategy and provides the framework for translating ideas into action
